TRAUMA THERAPY
PE (prolonged exposure therapy)
When something terrible happens, it’s completely natural to want to lock that memory away and avoid anything that reminds you of it. The problem is that avoidance keeps your world shrinking and keeps the fear alive. Prolonged Exposure (PE) is a gentle, highly structured way to take your life back. Together, we safely and gradually revisit the memory and the places you’ve been avoiding in a controlled, supportive environment. Think of it like re-watching a scary movie in a safe room with the lights on. The first few times are tough, but eventually, your brain realises the danger has passed. It helps your nervous system learn that you are safe in the present, taking away the memory's power to hijack your day.
I have used PE to help people with their experience of:
-
war flashbashs
-
near-death experiences
-
sexual assault
-
stalking
-
harrassement
-
car accidents
-
fear of flying
IRRT (imagery rescripting & reprocessing therapy)
Imagery Rescripting (IRRT) is a gentle but incredibly powerful way to heal the childhood memories that still feel "loud" or painful today. When you experience trauma or emotional neglect growing up, that helpless child version of you can get frozen in time, carrying the weight of fear, shame, or loneliness into your adult life. In IRRT, we safely revisit those childhood memories together, but this time, we change the dynamic. We bring your current, wise adult self into the scene to step in, protect, and comfort that little version of you. It’s not about changing the facts of what happened, but about changing how the memory lives inside you today. By stepping in as the protector you needed back then, you finally give your inner child the safety, validation, and closure they never got.
I have used IRRT to help people with experiences of:
-
Childhood sexual abuse
-
neglect
-
emotional abuse
-
abandonment
-
childhood near-death experiences
CPT (cognative processing therapy)
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is all about changing the "rules" that trauma rewrote in your mind. When something terrible happens, especially in childhood or a toxic relationship, your brain naturally tries to make sense of it by creating new assumptions about the world, like "I can't trust anyone," "The world is entirely unsafe," or "I must have done something to deserve this." These thoughts are survival mechanisms, but over time, they turn into emotional cages. In CPT, we act like detectives together. We gently look at these thoughts, question them, and unhook the unfair blame you’ve been carrying. It’s a very practical, empowering approach that helps you untangle your past from your present, allowing you to view yourself and the world through a much clearer, kinder lens.
I have used CPT to help people with their experience of:
-
low self-worth following abuse
-
misplaced self-blame
-
negative thoughts of self
-
misplaced mistrust
-
low self-esteem
-
repetitive negative self-talk
How to choose? Where to start?
Taking the first step toward trauma therapy can feel daunting, which is why our process is entirely collaborative and paced to your comfort. We begin with a friendly, relaxed consultation call to make sure we are a good fit and that you feel safe moving forward. From there, our first few sessions are dedicated to understanding your story; you will have the space to share your experiences and how they are impacting your daily life today without rushing into deep processing right away. Once we have a clear picture of your unique needs and goals, I will share my professional insights and map out the different evidence-based pathways available to us, such as EMDR, Imagery Rescripting, or Cognitive Processing Therapy. I will explain exactly how these methods work and how they can benefit you so that you can make a confident, fully informed decision. Ultimately, you are in the driver’s seat, and my role is simply to provide the clarity, expertise, and support you need to choose the path that feels right for your healing journey.
